Apply for a Fulbright Scholarship: The Job and Graduate Scholarship

The Fulbright Scholarship Program was created by United States Senator J. William Fulbright in 1946. Its sponsors include the United States Department of State, Office of Educational and Cultural Affairs, other countries’ governments and the private sector as well. One of the goals of the Fulbright Program is to foster interaction and understanding between people from diverse countries and cultures. Another objective of the Program is to provide students with scholarships and funds for postgraduate study, professional work and teaching abroad.

 How to complete a Fulbright Scholarship application

1. Eligibility-Fulbright Scholarship Program Applicants must meet the following requirements before their applications will be considered: US citizenship, a Tel. of D. or equivalent degree or outstanding professional achievements, college or university to teaching experience in the field of teaching area proposal, language, and good physical and mental health. Employees, spouses, and dependent children affiliated with the Department of State are not eligible to apply for a Fulbright Grant until one year after the affiliation has been dissolved. Previous Fulbright award winners must meet the review criteria, which includes the following: Five years must have passed since the last Fulbright program was completed (with the exception of short-term scholarships of less than two months in duration), and recipients may receive no more than two Fulbright scholarships. When there is competition for a given grant, however, preference will be given to those candidates who have not received a Fulbright grant in the past.
2. Applications -Applications for the Fulbright Scholarship Program can be applied for on the Fulbright Scholarship Program website. The application can be downloaded or a printed copy can be requested by email. Applicants, while they can normally only apply for one country, can express their interest in more than three countries.
3. Letter of Invitation -While some countries encourage applicants to have a letter of invitation, they may not require them to do so. However, there are other countries that require applicants to have a letter of invitation. If you are in doubt about this problem, you will need to check with the official program that represents a particular country. If a letter of invitation is necessary, applicants could contact faculty members in the relevant fields, look through a directory of Fulbright scholars, or check individual colleges on faculty websites for help.
4. Deadlines – Application Deadlines must be met in order to be considered for the Fulbright Scholarship Program. Applications can be submitted online or by mail to the appropriate address. There are specific guidelines for specialized programs such as the African Regional Research Organization and the Fulbright International Educational Administrators Program, among others. These guidelines can be read on the Fulbright Scholars Web page.
5. Requirements Applications are reviewed for the following content: professional qualifications, teaching activity classes, research activity, language proficiency, previous overseas experience, previous Fulbright, personal qualities, geographic distribution, and veterans of military service . Recommends candidates for a Fulbright Scholarship will be notified by letter.
6. More Information -During the application process, applicants will be asked for information about their academic degrees, and will also be asked to include any major publications, compositions, exhibitions, and awards. A maximum of five achievements are allowed. Applicants must also choose a project title, a summary of the proposed activity, submit information project proposal in a specialized field of study, as well as the proposed length of the grant. The evaluators’ names and their waivers of access to provide information must also be submitted. The congressional district number for your area must also be included, and this information can be found on the US House of Representatives website.
