Xiaomi starts accepting pre-orders in China for the Mix Fold 2 smartphone
On August 11, the Chinese electronics concern Xiaomi officially announced the Mix Fold 2 foldable smartphone. From today, the novelty is available for pre-order on all key trading platforms in China. Smartphone sales will begin on August 16.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 takes over the baton from the Mi Mix Fold, released last spring. Compared to its predecessor, the device has become thinner: when opened, the thickness of the case is 5.4 mm (against 7.6 mm for the Mi Mix Fold). Thus, today Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is the thinnest smartphone in the world with support for 5G networks.
When folded, the thickness of the device is 11.2 mm, while the previous model had a thickness of 17.2 mm. We can say that the novelty in the closed state almost does not differ in size from the usual monoblock smartphone. In addition, the developers have used a proprietary 3rd generation hinge mechanism, which is only 8.8 mm thick. Xiaomi engineers managed to reduce the thickness of the hinge by 30% compared to similar solutions from other companies.
In addition to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 platform, the flagship features Samsung’s unique 8.02-inch flexible LTPO2 OLED OLED display with a resolution of 2160 x 1914 pixels and a standard brightness of 100 nits (1300 nits peak). On the outside, there is a 6.56-inch Samsung E5 AMOLED panel (2520 x 1080 pixels, 1000 nits).
The Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 starts at $1,335.
