How to fix Apple Music Error 42587
Many Apple users face Error 42587 when trying to listen to music. This article describes how to troubleshoot the problem.
Restart iPhone
Try restarting your iPhone and opening Apple Music again to see if the issue is resolved.
Restart iCloud Music Library
Log out of your Apple account in Apple Music and log back in. Then go to Settings -> Music to open your iCloud Music Library. Try to play audio files. The note:
- iOS 11. In this situation, in the community you will see “iCloud Library” in the settings.
- Make sure you have a backup of your information on your device.

When switching to the library, you may receive a message: “Can’t play music and import files saved on other devices.” Try to fix it like this:
- Go to Settings> Music.
- Click on iCloud Music Library.
- Select “Keep Music” or “Remove and Replace”.

Remove DRM from Apple Music Songs
To avoid these errors, save the files directly to your iPhone. Then play audio files in other media players. Sometimes Apple Music is not available and it is prohibited to launch outside of the program. This is due to FairPlay DRM protection, one of the Digital Rights Management technologies used for copy protection.
