Preliminary information

Before explaining how to catch the first Pokémon on Pokémon GO , I think it is appropriate to provide you with some preliminary information regarding the famous free game developed by Niantic and available both for Android (downloadable for free from the Play Store or from alternative stores ) and for iOS / iPadOS (downloadable for free from the App Store ).

As you probably already know, Pokémon GO is a game whose goal is to catch Pokémon. In order to succeed in this intent, however (and here augmented reality comes into play ), it is strictly necessary to leave the house and walk around your city while using the app, in order to find the “monsters” that gradually will appear on the screen on the virtual map.

In this regard, in order to play Pokémon GO it is necessary to activate the GPS using the settings of your device. To do this on Android , go to the Settings app located on the Home screen and / or in the drawer of the, pressing on its gear-shaped icon . Then, go to the Security and privacy> Location services menu and move the lever next to the word Access my location to ON .

On iOS / iPadOS , on the other hand, press on the Settings app (the gear icon) located on the Home screen, so go to the Settings> Privacy> Location Services menu , then move the lever located at the word Services to ON of localization .

In addition, to play Pokémon GO it may also be useful to activate the AR mode which, using augmented reality, allows you to see the Pokémon “projected” in the real world, through the camera of the smartphone or tablet in use.

However, I remind you that the use of this feature involves a greater consumption of battery, therefore, since it is not strictly necessary to play Pokémon GO, I recommend that you disable it during the game, using the appropriate lever.

Having made the necessary premises above, let’s see together how to start playing Pokémon GO in order to take the first steps and, in particular, capture the first Pokémon of the tutorial and also the subsequent ones.
