How to change theme on Instagram
The first solution that you can put in place, if you wonder how to change the theme on Instagram, is that relating to the application of dark mode, that is, the dark theme, which is available in the Instagram app on both Android and iPhone. Find all the details below.
Change theme on Instagram Android
If you want to change the theme on Instagram and use Android, you must first know that the dark theme of the app is only available on terminals equipped with Android 9.0 or later.
That said, to activate this feature, in case your smartphone is updated to a supported Android version, you need to act through the device settings menu. Press, therefore, on the gear icon located on the home screen and/or in the drawer and reach the Display section > Dark Mode. Finally, move the lever to ON, corresponding to the wording Manual, to activate the dark theme.
The operating steps for the activation of the dark theme of Android may vary slightly depending on the type of smartphone you are using: for example, to turn on Huawei you having to go in the menu Settings> Battery and move on ON the lever situated in matching item Dark Colors interface.
After activating the dark theme from the Android settings, it will also be automatically activated in Instagram and in all supported apps: by starting the app of the well-known photographic social network, therefore, you will be able to see the black background applied.
In case of doubts or problems, refer to my guide in which I will explain in more detail how to have black Instagram.
Change theme on Instagram iPhone
As for the possibility of changing the theme on Instagram from iPhone, you must first know that the dark mode is available starting from iOS 13 and that this feature can be activated through the device settings.
If your iPhone is updated to a supported version of the operating system, then, press on the gear icon located on the home screen and/or in the app Library of the device, tap on the Screen and brightness item and, finally, press on the item Dark, to activate the dark mode (activate the Automatic lever, if you want the dark mode to activate and deactivate automatically based on the time).
After doing this, you just have to start the Instagram app, in order to see the dark theme automatically applied.
In case you encounter problems activating the feature in question, refer to my guide where I tell you in more detail how to have black Instagram.
Other solutions to change the theme on Instagram
In addition to the activation of the dark theme there are other possibilities that you can consider, to change the theme on Instagram: I will provide you with more details on this in the next chapters of this guide.
Threads from Instagram
If you want to change the theme of the Instagram chat and, consequently, give a touch of color to the messages you send and receive to the closest friends you have selected on the photo social network, you can use the Threads app from Instagram, downloadable on Android from Play Store (or from alternative stores ) and on iPhone from the App Store.
To start, start the app in question and, first of all, choose the friends with whom you want to keep in touch, putting a checkmark on their names, to add them to the list of closest friends. Then, click on the Continue button and consent to all the requests that are shown to you, which are necessary for the proper functioning of the app.
At this point, after adjusting some basic features of the app in relation to the possibility of setting a custom status, you will be shown the Themes section through which you can customize the color of the Threads app and, consequently, that of the messages received and sent.
For example, applying the Sunrise theme will give the app and messages an orange-toned color. after identifying the one you prefer, press the Finish button to apply it.
For more information on using the app in question, refer to my tutorial where I tell you about how to have colored messages on Instagram.
Posts and Stories
Another solution I want to talk to you about, to help you in your intent to customize Instagram, is the use of third-party apps that allow you to create aesthetically appealing images and/or videos to be published in posts and stories quickly and easily. , also thanks to the use of predefined themes.
Such apps, such as Adobe Spark Post ( Android / iOS / iPadOS ), Canva ( Android / iOS / iPadOS ), Unfold ( Android / iOS ) and Made ( Android / iOS ) – all free in their basic versions, with content add-ons unlockable via in-app purchases – all allow you to create engaging stories and posts from predefined themes.
Using apps of this type is quite simple since, taking the Adobe Spark Post app as an example, once you have installed and registered, just locate the template to use and press the Remix this template button to edit it. By doing so you can use the multimedia editor, in order to customize the colors, add text, animations, images, icons and much more, using the appropriate buttons. Once you’ve finished editing, you can save the image to your device memory ( the down arrow icon ) or share it directly to Instagram in the Feed or in the Stories.
What I did to you was just an example of how an app works but, in general, this also applies to all the other third-party apps that can be used for the creation of multimedia content: to find out more and for more detailed information on their use, I suggest you read my tutorials on graphics apps and the one on how to edit photos for Instagram.
