Windows 11 will not start on all computers: how to check it
Microsoft’s new Windows 11 system does not work on all computers, even on new ones it will not work everywhere. When checking the compatibility of a computer with Windows 11, using a special utility PC Health Check from Microsoft, a message may appear that Windows 11 cannot be started on this computer. In addition, the computer may not meet the minimum requirements for Windows 11.
How to fix when Windows 11 cannot start on this PC
The problem lies in the TPM 2.0 chip on the motherboard and the disabled Secure Boot feature in the BIOS. Let’s take a look at how to fix when Windows 11 cannot start on this computer.
1. Checking and enabling TPM 2.0
Modern computers and laptops have this chip, but very old ones may not. Therefore, it will be logical to start to check if there is a TPM 2.0 chip on a computer or laptop.
- Press Win + R and enter tpm.msc to open TPM management.
- Below you can see the TPM version of the chip, which must be at least 2.0.
If you see a window with no information that says “Cannot find a compatible TPM,” then you need to enable TPM in the BIOS, experts say In BIOS, this parameter can be called differently, depending on the motherboard manufacturer: TPM, Trusted Platform Module, TPM Device, Security Chip, fTPM. Let’s show an example on ASUS B450M.
- To enable TPM, go to BIOS (press DEL when turning on the PC).
- Click on Advanced below to open advanced options.
- Go to the “Advanced” tab.
- Select AMD fTPM configuration.
- Under TPM Device Selection, set Firmware TPM.
- Press F10 to save the parameters.
2. Secure Boot Secure Boot
In the BIOS, the secure boot option is located under the Boot tab and is called “Secure Boot” or “Secure Boot”. Set to Enabled to enable. Sometimes, you need to clear the keys for the parameter to be available. In my case:
- Go to the “Boot” tab and select “Secure Boot Menu”.
- To enable, you need to select the “Key Management” below.
- Click on “Set Default Secure Boot Keys”.
- Next, secure boot will be enabled, press F10 to save
