The WordPress team has released an extension to speed up sites

The WordPress developers  announced  the launch of the Performance Lab plugin. This is a multifunctional extension designed to increase the performance of websites based on a proprietary CMS.

Performance Lab is a whole collection of modules, each of which is designed to increase the speed of sites. This is an official addition to WP, which means that at some point most of the modules will be in the core of WordPress. Each module in Performance Lab can be enabled or disabled independently of the others. Thus, administrators have the opportunity to independently check how a particular module works and decide which ones should be left in working order.

Now the Performance Lab consists of 4 components:

  1. WebP Uploads – This module creates WebP versions of JPEG images and uploads them to the server.
  2. WebP Support – Adds a “WebP support” option to the Health Status window.
  3. Persistent Object Cache Health Check – adds a persistent cache check for sites with a specific amount of data.
  4. Audit Enqueued Assets – Checks CSS and JS assets.

You can install the new extension now. You need to open a window with plugins, find Performance Lab in the search engine, then install the add-on and activate it.
