Huawei unveils P50 Pocket – a compact clamshell in the spirit of the Galaxy Z Flip3
A foldable screen and an unusual camera that illuminates details invisible to the human eye.
As part of the next presentation in China, Huawei has officially announced a miniature smartphone P50 Pocket. This is a foldable model that looks like the Galaxy Z Flip3 . She has the same body design and a small additional screen on the outside for displaying the time, widgets and notifications.
Huawei decided to focus on premium design in its design. The novelty will be available in several colors, including gold with a textured surface of the case. Haute couture designer Iris Van Herpen had a hand in this look.
The main screen, accessible when the device is opened, has a 6.9-inch OLED matrix with an aspect ratio of 21: 9, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a display of the full gamut of DCI-P3 tones. The resolution is 2790 × 1188 pixels. For selfies, a 10.7 megapixel module is provided in the hole of the screen.
The key part of the gadget is considered to be a multi-dimensional hinge mechanism, which allows the two halves of the device to be folded without any visible gap or marks on the display panel.
Considerable attention is paid to the rear camera – the P50 Pocket is equipped with a 40MP True Chroma sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide-angle module and a 32MP Ultra Spectrum camera with a 10-channel multispectral sensor. The latter allows you to take pictures with a fluorescent effect (example below), highlighting various particles and lines, and also helps to determine the uniformity of makeup or sunscreen application, as in ultraviolet light.
The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 888 4G chip – the solution is no longer new, but Huawei, due to the sanctions, cannot use more modern processors. Similarly, with the Android operating system, instead of which the P50 Pocket has a proprietary HarmonyOS 2.
The amount of RAM reaches 12 GB, and the built-in memory is 512 GB. A 4000 mAh battery with a 40 W charge is responsible for autonomy. With all this, the device weighs only 190 grams, its thickness in the open state is 7.2 mm, and when folded – 15.2 mm.
The price of Huawei P50 Pocket in China starts at 8,988 yuan. Some versions of the novelty will appear in foreign markets.
