Preliminary operations
Learning how to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME is undoubtedly an easy process, as you will understand through this tutorial. In any case, however, there are small requirements to be met.
First, let’s better understand how Pokémon HOME works . This application, available on both mobile devices ( Android and iOS / iPadOS ) and Nintendo Switch , allows you to collect Pokémon in a single platform . From here, you can then sort Pokémon into other Nintendo-branded Pokémon games. The titles involved in Pokémon HOME are the ones that I put you below.
- Pokémon GO
- Sword Pokémon
- Pokémon Shield
- Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee!
- Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!
- Pokémon Bank
You can transfer one or more Pokémon from the titles listed above to Pokémon HOME. However, you can only move Pokémon from Pokémon HOME to Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield . This means that if you transfer one or more Pokémon from Pokémon GO, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee !, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon Bank in Pokémon HOME, you will no longer be able to return them to the original game . For this reason, unless you are moving Pokémon from Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield, make sure you are transferring the right Pokémon to Pokémon HOME, as you will not be able to get them back to the game you caught them in.
In any case, keep in mind that in order to move any Pokémon from any of the titles I mentioned, you need a Nintendo Account . This, in fact, is essential, as it is used to connect the platforms to the same account. If you don’t know how to proceed, I refer you to my guide, in which I explain how to create a Nintendo account .
Also, transferring Pokémon from Pokémon GO has a single limitation: although it is possible to move a large variety of Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME, there are some types of Pokémon that cannot be exported from the application. In fact, all types of special Pokémon made especially for Pokémon GO, such as Party Hat Pikachu, are to be excluded.
The first thing you need to do, therefore, is to install Pokémon HOME . If you have an Android mobile device , you can download the application via this official link on the Play Store (or, if you have a terminal without Google services, you can use the alternative stores for Android ). If, on the other hand, you have an iPhone / iPad , you can download the application using this official App Store link . In both cases, just press the Install / Get button and, if necessary, verify your identity.
Also note that the application is also available on Nintendo Switch , but to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME, you need the phone version of the latter.
At this point, open Pokémon HOME . During the application configuration process, you will be asked to link your Nintendo account: to do this, press the Connect your account button , and from the page you are brought to, press the Yes button , let’s proceed with the connection . Finally, from the screen that opens, click on the Link your account option .
You are now on a web page outside Pokémon HOME, where you are asked to enter your Nintendo Account details. Then fill in the fields E-mail address / Login ID and Password and press the Login button . Once this is done, you can return to Pokémon HOME.
If you haven’t linked Pokémon HOME to the Nintendo Switch, a screen will appear asking if you want to link the mobile version of Pokémon HOME to a Nintendo Account. Then press on Yes . That’s it: now your Pokémon HOME account is set up and ready to make Pokémon transfers.
How to transfer a Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME
After you have completed all the preliminary actions above, you can proceed with the transfer of your “pocket critters”. First, open Pokémon GO on your mobile device and tap on the Pokéball at the bottom of the screen. Press, then, on the item Settings , at the top right, and scroll down, until you find the item Pokémon HOME , then press it.
At this point, you are asked to link your Nintendo Account. Press on the LOGIN option to be redirected to a page outside the application. From here you must enter your access data: then fill in the E-mail address / access ID and Password fields and press the Login button .
Now that you are logged in, you are asked to confirm the link between Pokémon GO and your Nintendo Account. Then press the Agree button : by doing so, you will be sent back to Pokémon GO and your Nintendo account will be configured on the application.
Now that your Nintendo Account is linked to Pokémon GO, the game should show you the option SEND POKÈMON : press it to start the transfer.
Before moving one or more Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME, take into account the energy in the GO carrier . This is consumed for each Pokémon you decide to transfer, and the amount used is different for each type of Pokémon.
To restore the energy of the transfer, you have two alternatives: the first is to simply wait . The energy, in fact, is automatically recharged over time. If you don’t want to wait, instead, I propose the second alternative, that is the use of Pokémonete (the in-app currency of Pokémon GO, obtainable through the defense bonus in the Gym or with real money). With these, in fact, you can recharge the transfer immediately.
At this point, to choose the Pokémon to be transferred, you must press the Continue button . Here you can see all the Pokémon in your Pokémon GO account. To select them, simply press on the ones you want to move to Pokémon HOME. When you have made your choice, press the NEXT button , an option that takes you to a list of all the Pokémon you have selected for transfer.
I recommend that you check your choices well, because, as mentioned above, once you have moved Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME, you will not be able to move them back to Pokémon GO. If you are sure of your choice, click on the TRANSFER button .
The process ends here: the Pokémon have been transferred from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME. Press the FINISHED key .
What you need to do now is to receive the newly sent Pokémon on Pokémon HOME. In fact, you should know that until you accept a transfer made by you, you will not be able to make other transfers of Pokémon from Pokémon GO. In any case, there is no time limit: you can accept it whenever you want.
First, open Pokémon HOME on your mobile device. Upon startup, if a transfer has been made to your Pokémon HOME account, an alert screen will automatically open about the thing. Then press the Yes button to receive them. From the page that opens from here, tap on the View Transferred Pokémon option . By doing so, in fact, you will be able to see all the Pokémon that have been transferred from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME. To redeem them on your Pokémon HOME account, simply press the Receive Pokémon button .
Pokémon have now been moved to Pokémon HOME. You can view them by pressing on the Pokémon entry located at the top right, through which you can see all the Pokémon you have available. Also, since the transfer process is finished, you can start a new one, as long as you have enough power in the GO transfer.
Now that you have new Pokémon in Pokémon HOME, you can decide what to do with them. Since you can only move them to Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield , you could move them there and train them. If, on the other hand, you are more of a type who collects Pokémon for the fun of it, then you can very well keep them on Pokémon HOME. Since the app is also equipped with a Pokédex , you could bet on its completion!
In this regard, another interesting feature of Pokémon HOME are exchanges . Through the application, in fact, you can exchange the Pokémon in your Pokémon HOME account with those of other trainers on Pokémon HOME around the world. To do this, just click on the Trade item located at the top left. From here you can also see various stats, including the most requested Pokémon and the most traded ones. In short, it’s up to you to decide what to do with the Pokémon just transferred to Pokémon HOME!
