Tips for stopping a train

On GTA 5 the train is indestructible, it is not possible to drive it and not even stop it in any way. Many users have extricated themselves in this enterprise, failing in any way to stop its run. This happens as the trains on GTA 5 are immune to any damage and ram any objects and vehicles that are placed on the tracks, with an attempt to stop or derail them.

However, there are some methods that can be put into practice to be able to stop a train or, in any case, see it stopped. First of all, I must warn you that in this guide of mine I will not tell you about any glitches that you can use to achieve your goal, as the latter can be eliminated by the developers with updates, thus making the method obsolete. Therefore, in this chapter, I will explain how to be able to see a stationary train through some “clean” methods officially provided by the game.

First of all, speaking of the Story mode of GTA 5, it must be said that in some cases the trains are not completely indestructible. An example of what has just been said is the train during a parachuting mission : in this case, in fact, the train will be equipped with a script that makes it vulnerable and it is possible to detonate the locomotive to stop its run.

Another interesting mission, from this point of view, is the one called Impact Point , in which it is necessary to stop at all costs the running of a train, causing it to derail, and requisitioning its load. In this case, the mission in question is specifically designed to easily stop a train.

Another way to see a train stop is by accessing GTA 5 Online Mode . From time to time, you can see the train stop running at a specific station, the one located at the Palmer-Taylor Power Plant . In this place, which is located in the east of San Andreas, there are two platforms: ignore the service one and wait for the train to arrive on the main platform, which could stop its run right in front of the station tower.

Use mods to stop a train

If your purpose is to completely stop a train, perhaps with the possibility of being able to lead it, using mods is the only solution you can put into practice to be able to achieve this goal. However, I warn you that the mods, as I anticipated in the introduction of this guide, are only available for the PC version of GTA 5 and, moreover, you do not have to enable them when you are in Online mode, in order not to risk a ban.

That said, in this chapter I will propose two mods that can be useful for stopping a train: Stop That Train , which makes trains destructible, and Railroad Engineer , which offers the possibility to lead a train (being able to stop it on the tracks) or make it derail . But let’s go in order.

First of all, whatever mod you want to use on GTA 5, you must first download Script Hook V : it is a tool that allows the execution of scripts, that is mods, in .ASI format . Therefore, go to the official website of the developer and press on the word Download , to download the archive.

After downloading the .ZIP file , extract the contents of the bin folder inside it in the main directory where you have installed GTA 5. Make sure, therefore, that the ScriptHookV.dll and dinput8.dll files are present in the main folder of GTA 5 that you find in the path , if you bought GTA 5 from Steam.C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V\

Now, proceed with the download of the aforementioned mods: by reaching this link and clicking on the Download button , you can download the .ZIP file of the Stop That Train mod . Then extract the StopThatTrain.asi file to the main GTA 5 directory and start the game. At this point, all you have to do is find a train and throw a grenade at it to see it explode and, therefore, stop.

If, on the other hand, you want to lead the train yourself, you will have to rely on the Railroad Engineer mod , which you can download from this link . Again, place the contents of the .ZIP file ( J10RailroadEngineer.asi and J10RailroadEngineer.ini ) in the root directory of GTA 5.

Once in the game and spotted a train, approach the track and, as soon as the locomotive passes by your avatar, press and hold the F key to go up and start driving it. To slow down, hold down the S key , while to perform an emergency stop press the spacebar key , or the spacebar + S key combination .

How to stop the subway in GTA 5

On GTA 5 there is also the subway train that runs its route within the city of Los Santos. As seen in previous chapters, a train cannot be stopped in any way, not even by using explosives or by eliminating the driver. The only time it stops is at individual stations to allow passengers to get on or off the vehicle.

For this reason, the only way to be able to stop a subway train on GTA 5 is to use a special mod, like the ones I told you about in the previous chapter . Again, you will have different ways to be able to stop a train from running.
