How to see messages on Instagram
You recently created an account on Instagram and, very happy and satisfied with it, you communicated it to your friends, who told you about a feature of the social network that you did not know: private messages. In fact, Instagram, in addition to sharing photos and videos in Posts and Stories, can also be used to exchange messages in private, similar to what is possible with WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and other instant messaging apps.
So, if you are now reading this guide of mine, I imagine that you are wondering how to see messages on Instagram, as you would like to take advantage of this feature but do not know how to do it. If that’s the case, don’t worry – I’m here to help you. In fact, in this tutorial of mine, I will explain, step by step, how to use the functionality of the photographic social network dedicated to the possibility of conversing privately with other users. In addition, I’ll explain how to see other types of messages as well, such as comments and replies to Stories.

How to see direct messages on Instagram
The first thing you need to know, if you are wondering how to see messages on Instagram, is that Instagram’s messaging service is known as Direct. The latter is accessible both from smartphones and tablets, through the Instagram app for Android (downloadable from the Play Store or from alternative stores ) and iOS (downloadable from the App Store ), and from a computer, through the official Instagram site or its official application for Windows 10 and later.
From Android and iOS
To see the messages on Instagram from your smartphone (or tablet), the first thing you need to do is start the official app of the famous social network and log in to your account if necessary. After that, tap on the paper airplane icon which is located in the top right corner of the main screen.
By doing so you will be able to see the list of active conversations with other users: to open the one of your interest and view the messages received or sent in it, tap on the user’s name. The chat screen will then open for sending text messages, voice messages (the icon in the shape of a microphone ) or photos/videos (the icon in the shape of a picture ).

From PC
You can also see the messages on Instagram from a computer, via the official Instagram site and the official application of the famous social network for Windows 10 and later. To do this, the first thing you need to do is log into your account (if you haven’t already) and press on the paper airplane icon which is located in the upper right corner.
At this point, in the screen that is shown to you, you can see all the conversations you have in progress with other users: to open the one you are interested in and, therefore, view the related messages, all you have to do is press on the name of the user of your interest.

How to see comments on Instagram
Would you like to know how to display comments on Instagram under your posts or in those of others? Then follow the instructions on what to do that you find below.
From Android and iOS
To see Instagram comments from smartphones and tablets, you need to locate the content of your interest in the app Feed (accessible by pressing the house-shaped icon ). Alternatively, you can search for specific content via the search engine (the magnifying glass icon ). If the content you want to view comments is your post, you must instead go to your profile (by tapping on the icon of the little man or on your avatar located at the bottom right).
At this point, all you have to do is click on the icon in the shape of a comic, to see all the comments posted by users in relation to the selected content. You didn’t think it would be that easy, did you?
From PC
To see the comments on Instagram from a computer, via the official website or the social network application for Windows, log in to your account (if necessary) and identify the content of your interest, which can be a post published by others. in the Instagram Feed (accessible by pressing the house-shaped icon ), a content proposed in the Explore section of the social network (the compass icon ) or your own content, on your profile page.
After identifying the post you want to see the comments for, click on the cartoon symbol below it and that’s it: you will be able to see all the comments left by users in correspondence with the content in question.
How to see replies to stories on Instagram
In the next paragraphs I would like to explain to you how to see the messages on Instagram that other users have sent you in response to your stories.
From Android and iOS
Do you use Instagram from your smartphone or tablet? In this case, you can see the response messages to your stories simply by tapping on the notification that will be shown to you in correspondence with the airplane icon located in the upper right corner of the main screen of the app.
By doing so, the direct messages screen will open: the comment to the story will be indicated to you along with all the other messages received and will be marked with the words Replied to your story.
Therefore, as with other private messages received, tap on the user’s name to see the reply message to the story you shared.
From PC
To see the reply messages to your stories from a computer (from the official Instagram site or from the application for Windows), click directly on the notification that will be shown to you in correspondence with the airplane icon located in the upper right corner of the social network.
By doing so, you will be redirected to the screen dedicated to private messages and you will be able to see the message by clicking on the user’s name (marked with the words Has replied to your story ). Easy, right?
How to view messages on Instagram without being seen
Are you wondering if it is possible to view messages on Instagram without being seen? As easily understood, the social network in question does not have a specific functionality dedicated to this possibility.
You can still succeed in your intent in an alternative way, for example by reading the message received directly from the Instagram notification panel on your smartphone or tablet.
Alternatively, you can limit or block the user whose messages you want to see: in this specific case, in fact, the user’s messages will still be delivered and, therefore, can be read, but until the restrictions are removed, the recipient will not know that they have been displayed.

How to see comments on Instagram without an account
The use of Instagram and all its main features is subject to the creation of an account. Therefore, at the time of this writing, it is not possible to see comments on Instagram without an account.
Instagram, in fact, only allows you to see a preview of the images published in the posts even without registration, but the comments corresponding to the same cannot be seen.
How to see deleted Instagram messages
In case you want to see the deleted messages on Instagram, you must know that, unfortunately, this procedure cannot be implemented as the famous social network does not download the messages received on the user’s device memory, but makes them usable only through its servers: this means that, once deleted, the comments are not recoverable in any way.

How to see other people’s Instagram messages
Are you wondering if it is possible to see other people’s Instagram messages? Instagram does not allow spying on other users and, therefore, it is not possible to see the messages of others, apart from the comments and replies to their own stories.
