Obviously, if you have ended up on this guide you too cannot resist the irrepressible desire to play this historic title. Am I right? Well, then if you are wondering how to play Pac-Man from your device, know that you have come to the right place at the right time! All you have to do is get comfortable and take a few minutes of free time to read the tutorial below.

App to play Pac-Man

The most convenient way to play Pac-Man is to use one of the many free apps that have been published on the Google Play Store and the App Store. By installing one of the apps I am about to recommend on your device, you can play Pac-Man practically anywhere: while you wait in the doctor’s waiting room, while you travel on public transport, while you wait for your friend … in short, wherever you are!

PAC-MAN (Android / iOS)

The first app that I recommend you try to play Pac-Man is… PAC-MAN , the original transposition of the historic video game of the yellow ball released by Bandai Namco. By installing this app on your device you will go back in time: you will be enraptured by the same mesmerizing music that characterized the old glorious versions of Pac-Man and you will have a very, very familiar interface in front of you.

After completing the download of PAC-MAN for Android or iOS, tap the Open button  to start the game or, alternatively, tap the game icon that appears on the Home screen of your device. Once this is done, you will be asked to tap the screen to continue and, as soon as you have done this, you will be able to choose one of the many game modes available.

If you intend to play the “traditional” version of Pac-Man, I recommend that you tap on Classic . This way you can try your hand at the classic version of Pac-Man having the opportunity to choose between various difficulty levels: easy , normal or hard . To choose the level of difficulty you want, tap the blue arrows and then tap the green button  at the bottom.

In addition to the classic maze, the PAC-MAN app offers the possibility to choose some custom mazes. To choose these mazes, tap on the Labyrinths item  in the app home and choose the path you prefer the most. There are over 40 mazes available, but know that to unlock them all you need to spend virtual coins that can be earned by playing in the classic maze. Alternatively, if you want to do this first, you can buy the coins with real money via in-app purchase.

PAC-MAN Bounce (Android / iOS)

PAC-MAN Bounce is another app that allows you to play Pac-Man via smartphone and tablet. Compared to the app examined previously, PAC-MAN Bounce has much more modern graphics: the Pac-Man, for example, is represented by a three-dimensional yellow sphere complete with shadows, reflections and facial expressions. Furthermore, compared to the “classic” version of Pac-Man, where it is possible to move only vertically and horizontally, this title allows you to have much more freedom of movement. It is in fact possible to bounce off the walls (hence the name PAC-MAN Bounce, the English term “bounce” can be translated into Italian “bounce”), jump over obstacles and more.

To start playing, after downloading and starting the app, you will need to tap on the orange icon located in the center of the screen. When done, you will notice that the game levels are grouped into 10 worlds. To start playing you will have to touch one of the blue orbs that correspond to the available levels. Then follow the on-screen instructions and you can quickly learn the basics of the game.

The PAC-MAN Bounce application can be downloaded for free on Android and iOS devices .

PAC-MAN 256 (Android / iOS)

If you are an avid Pac-Man gamer, it is very likely that you are aware of the bug that prevents users from continuing the game after reaching level 256. If this is the case for you then I am happy to recommend an app. which fixes the bug in question and allows you to play Pac-Man practically indefinitely: PAC-MAN 256 .

To start playing PAC-MAN 256, just install and start the app and then tap Play . Then you have to move your finger in the various tunnels of the labyrinth and move Pac-Man in order to avoid ghosts and collect all the spheres scattered along the labyrinth.

The game is very simple: there are no game modes, other than the classic one, and it is not possible to customize the maze, but if you are an “old school” player you will certainly appreciate the “purist” approach of this title.

The PAC-MAN 256 application can be downloaded for free on  Android and iOS devices .

Pac-Man for Facebook Messenger (Android / iOS / desktop)

The last app I recommend you to try is Facebook Messenger . No, I’m not crazy! Facebook Messenger, in addition to providing a very useful messaging system, allows you to challenge your friends online by playing various mini-games – including Pac-Man – which were introduced by Mark Zuckerberg’s company to make their instant messaging platform a sort of virtual arcade.

How do you play Pac-Man on Facebook Messenger? Nothing simpler. After  signing up for Facebook and downloading the Messenger app for Android or iOS on your device  , use your credentials to access the social network and head straight to the Messenger Games section , where you will also find Pac-Man .

If you are having difficulty signing in to Messenger, I invite you to read my guide which explains how to sign in to Messenger . If you can’t find Pac-Man on Messenger, tap on Games and press the icon of the game you want to start, in this case PAC-MAN . If your other friends have played this game before, you will see their scores. Please do your best to beat them and climb the leaderboard!

Of course, you can also use the desktop version of Messenger to play Pac-Man on a PC. All you have to do is click on the joystick icon , and then choose  PAC-MAN from the menu containing the games.

How to play Pac-Man online

Do you want to play Pac-Man from your computer but don’t have the slightest intention of downloading software from the Internet? Don’t worry, even in this case I have several alternatives to offer you. Browsing the web you can find many sites that can allow you to play Pac-Man directly from your browser (the program you use to browse the Internet) without wasting time. In the next paragraphs I will show you just some of the sites in question.

World’s Biggest PAC-MAN

The first site I recommend you to visit is World’s Biggest PAC-MAN  which, as you can see, is entirely dedicated to the Pac-Man game. As soon as you arrive on its  main page , you will be faced with hundreds and hundreds of mazes. Then click on one of the  available mazes and click on the Play for fun button to start playing. If, on the other hand, you want to be able to create new mazes, click on the Connect button  and log in with your Facebook account.

After choosing the maze of your liking, wait for a few seconds for the game to load and use the arrow keys on the keyboard to move Pac-Man within the game path (the site only works from computers and keyboard devices). You can view the statistics of your match through the indications that are shown above.

You can play Pac-Man using the service I just recommended without having to install any additional plugins, such as Adobe Flash Player. This site, in fact, was entirely developed with the HTML 5 language and works with all the most popular browsers: Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox, etc.

Google Doodle by Pac-Man

The solution I recommended to you in the previous article allows you to play Pac-Man from the browser, but only from a PC or from devices that have a physical keyboard. If your desire is to play Pac-Man from the browser of your smartphone or tablet, instead, you must use a service like  Pac-Man’s Google Doodle that Google created in 2010 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pac’s birth. -Man.

To play Pac-Man using the Google Doodle, all you have to do is connect to this page  and click on Insert Coin . After pressing this command, you can move Pac-Man using the keyboard arrows (if you are using a computer) or by dragging your fingertips on the display (if you are using a mobile device). Good fun!

One last site that I point out to you to play Pac-Man online is Pacmangratis.it . The domain name of this website makes it clear that it is a site entirely dedicated to the famous game born in the 80s. As soon as you arrive on the main page of Pacmangratis.it , you will notice that not only is it possible to play Pac-Man, but also to read up on the history of this historic videogame.

If you are not familiar with Pac-Man, you can click on Pacman Game Information above to find out what the purpose of the game is. If, on the other hand, you click on History and origin of the game , you will be able to access a page that will briefly explain how Pac-Man was born.

From the main page of the site you can immediately play Pac-Man by clicking on the Play Game item located inside the first box, if you intend to play the classic version of Pac-Man, or on the Start Game item  in the second box, if it is your intention to experience the “Advanced” version of Pac-Man where there is only one ghost in the maze and you have to collect red pills to defeat him.
