Making paper on Minecraft

If you want to produce paper in Minecraft, you need to gather the necessary resources and suitable tools for its manufacture. Pay attention to the procedures that I will indicate to you in the following lines.

Gather the necessary materials

The only essential resource for the production of paper is sugar cane. This kind of vegetation grows in any place where there is water next to it: for this reason, it is easy to find the sugar cane plant near watercourses or on the coasts.

It can therefore be found in any biome in the Minecraft world, but is rarer in the Arctic, because the water is usually frozen. To be more precise, this vegetation only grows on blocks of grass, dirt or sand, just to give you a few examples.

After identifying it, you just have to approach and interact on it, without the need to use any tools. By doing so, you will collect the sugar cane, which will be placed inside the inventory.

With this resource, it is possible to create sugar, to make foods and potions, or paper, which I will tell you about in the next paragraphs.

Create a workbench

Before you get started with papermaking, you need to create an essential tool for your purpose: the workbench. If you don’t already have one, in the next few lines I’ll explain how to make it.

Using the avatar’s ax or bare hands, interact with a tree to obtain wooden logs. At this point, open your inventory and locate the Manufacturing section on the right. Place then the freshly harvested logs to get the axes of wood.

You need four planks to make a workbench: place a wooden plank unit on all four squares in the Fabrication section to get this item. With that done, move it to the shortcut bar to equip it and place it in the shelter.

Produce the paper

Now that you have reached this point, all you have to do is use the resources and tools I told you about in the previous paragraphs to produce the paper. So approach the workbench and interact on it to open the crafting panel.

Now, place three units of sugar cane horizontally on three panes: you will now be shown the result, ie the unit of sheets of paper. All you have to do now is drag the newly crafted card into your avatar’s inventory to use it later in other projects.

Alternatively, you can find the card as loot inside the chests, which you find on galleons or in underground fortresses.

Use paper in other projects

Paper cannot be used directly, but it is a resource for the realization of other projects. For example, you can create maps, which will help you find your way around your location. To craft a map, you need eight units of paper and a compass. In a workbench you have to arrange the compass in the center and distribute the sheets of paper around it.

Another useful project that requires paper is the one that involves the manufacture of pyrotechnic rockets: these are useful if you have the Elitre, which I told you about in this guide. To get them, simply place a sheet of paper, some gunpowder and a pyrotechnic star on the workbench.

The use of paper for the manufacture of books is important. Three units of paper and one unit of leather are used to create a book. These are mainly for creating the bookshelves, the spell table or the magic books, which I will tell you about in the next paragraph.

The paper for making spellbooks

The toughest challenges in Minecraft can be met through the use of spells. These imbue objects with properties to enhance their characteristics. Examples are spells that reduce damage taken or those that increase the amount of resources collected.

Spells are applied through a tool called the spell table. This is made with a book, two diamonds and four blocks of obsidian. After placing it in the shelter, by interacting on it you can use lapis lazuli to upgrade equipment with a random bonus.

By building libraries around the spell table, you can improve the quality of the upgrades you get. A maximum of fifteen can be built to maximize efficiency. To fabricate a library is positioned in a workbench three books at the center of the panels horizontally and fill the remaining spaces with axes of wood.

The books can also be used to contain spells inside, to be used as needed on your equipment. Just put a book on the spell table along with lapis lazuli to enchant it.
