How to create a signature in Photoshop?
Regardless of where you are with this topic, sometimes you just want to make sure the world knows you took the photo. How to create a signature in Photoshop?
There are many ways to do this, but most of them seem quite cumbersome. You can create a watermark and save it in various file formats.
But that means opening the file and dragging it onto the image whenever you want to use it. Eventually, I found out how to create a signature brush in Photoshop and finally found my perfect solution.
Although I’ve described the steps to create a brush of your signature, the same steps will work for creating a brush of your logo.
Guideline 1: Sign your name
- Use a sheet of plain white paper and a pointed marker.
- The Photoshop part of the process will be much easier with the thicker marker lines.
- But you should also write your signature a little bigger than you normally would.
- Once your signature looks good, scan it in high resolution and save the JPEG to your computer.
- You can try taking a picture if you don’t have a scanner.
- But fill in the frame and make sure the lens is as parallel to the paper as possible.
Guideline 2: Open, expand and select
- Once the signature is opened in Photoshop.
- Make a good approach.
- Using the Magic Wand Tool (keyboard shortcut W), click on the signature to select it.
- You should immediately see the “marching ants” flashing around your signature.
- If the tool does not select the complete signature.
- Hold down the Shift key while clicking on the parts of the signature that were skipped the first time.
- Since my signature has a pause, I had to add the second segment with one more click of the selection tool.
- You can also right-click and select “Similar” in the context menu.
Guideline 3: Save it and give it a name
- Once the complete signature is selected.
- Click the Edit drop-down menu at the top of the window.
- Clicking Set Default Brush will open a dialog showing a thumbnail of the new brush.
- Give the brush a name and click “OK”.
- This will save the brush in its current size to its current set of brushes.
- You can check this by selecting the brush tool.
- By opening the Preset Selector, the new brush will appear at the bottom of the brush set.
Guideline 4: customize it
Due to the large signature we use to create the brush, our new brush is too large to mark a photo with pleasure.
You can adjust the size within the brush panel, but there is a quicker and easier way to do it right from the keyboard.
The left and right bracket keys – can be used to adjust the brush size. The right button makes it bigger and the left button makes it smaller.
You can create a second preset in a more manageable size or just use the support keys to make quick size adjustments for each photo as needed.
