The Internet is an extraordinary communication tool and a great channel through which to pass cultural content. By opening a browser you can even go around the world in a few moments without moving from your chair. What am I referring to? To the many sites that allow you to watch free webcams from every corner of the Earth and find out in real-time what is happening in nearby or far away locations.

If you want, I can tell you some of the most interesting, so, after having made your nice virtual trip around the world, maybe you can take a few days of well-deserved vacation and visit live one of the places admired from your PC or your screen. smartphone/tablet (since the sites in question can also be consulted from mobile, often also in the form of an app).

So, are you ready to start this “journey”? If your answer is affirmative, I would say to put the chatter on immediately and take a closer look at the solutions I mentioned to you. All you have to do is make yourself comfortable, take all the time you need to concentrate on reading the next lines and then enjoy the vision of the images coming from the webcams of every corner of the planet. There is nothing left for me to do but wish you a good read and, above all, have fun!

EarthCam

One of the first sites I recommend you to visit is EarthCam which is considered a real institution in the field of free streaming webcams. Just think that it offers high-definition broadcasts from places like Times Square in New York, Venice Beach in Los Angeles, Sao Paulo in Brazil, Amsterdam and many other locations that we have all dreamed of visiting at least once in our lifetime.

To use EarthCam, connected to its home page, locate the webcam that interests you the most and click on its preview. Alternatively, use the search form at the top, type the location you want to see the live broadcast and press the blue Search button. Furthermore, if you want, you can also click on one of the webcams displayed in the planisphere at the bottom of the page, in the webcams of the World section.

After starting the playback of a live stream, you can press the appropriate buttons that appear on the screen to adjust the environmental volume, enable full-screen viewing and zoom the camera on a specific point of the video. Finally, I would like to point out the availability of EarthCam in the form of an app for  Android and iOS, for accessing webcams directly from smartphones and tablets.

Skyline webcams

Definitely deserves a place in your bookmarks also the Skyline webcams site which offers the possibility to watch many webcams in live streaming with high-quality footage of some of the most important Italian and international locations.

To “browse” the webcams available on Skyline webcams, connect to the main page of the site and use the map in the background or the Live webcam menu (located at the top left) to select a location (eg Italy, Spain, Switzerland, etc.). Then, press the play button related to the live you want to start and that’s it.

I also point out the possibility of viewing the weather forecast of the area you are monitoring, a time-lapse video recorded in the last hours and a map of the area by pressing, respectively, on the weather, time-laps and locate buttons which are located at the top, just above the video playback window.

Webviewcams

Webviewcams is another portal that I invite you to visit if you want to access live videos from public webcams from various continents, as, in addition to being free and easy to use, it is compatible for all major browsers.

To use it, connected to the main page of Webviewcams, scroll through the list of the various locations available and press the preview of the one you are interested in viewing. Alternatively, you can search for webcams by first selecting the reference continent from the planisphere at the top left and then clicking on the link relating to the country you are interested in. If you want, you can also carry out the “classic” search using the search bar located at the top right and pressing the Search button.

When you arrive on the page concerning the chosen camera, the live reproduction of what is happening in the location in question will start and, using the appropriate commands, you can adjust the framing and zoom using the appropriate adjustment bars on the right. Interesting, right?

Physgonia

Another portal that I invite you to consider to view webcams for free is Fisgonia. If you have never heard of it before, this is a site that, by leaning on the map of Google Maps, allows you to “lookout” in various countries of the world while sitting comfortably in front of your PC.

To use Fisgonia, connected to its main page, move on the map looking for a webcam of your interest (using the legend on the left of the page you can find out what the color of each webcam corresponds to) and click on the preview that appears at passing the cursor over it. In case you want to carry out a targeted search, you can do it by typing in the search field at the top with the name of the place you are interested in and then pressing the search button  ….

On the page that opens after clicking on the preview of a chosen location, you will be shown a page containing information about the place in question and a satellite view of the same: then press the green Open webcam button located in the center of the screen to start live playback of the webcam video and enjoy watching!

How to find other free webcams

None of the above solutions satisfied you and you would like to know, therefore, how to find other free webcams? Trivially, you can do a search on Google (or any other search engine ) and try to search for another webcam in a location of your interest.

To do this, connected to the  Google home page , type in the search field in the center of the screen the terms inurl: / view.shtml or title: “Live View / – AXIS” inurl: view/view.shtml ^ and press the button  Search Google or enter on your keyboard.

By doing so, on the search results page, you will see links to all public webcams that are currently live. All you have to do is click on one of them, in order to connect to the websites that host them and view the videos you are interested in watching.

Free webcam app

Do you want to watch webcams directly from your smartphone or tablet? No problem: you can do it by downloading one of the free webcam apps listed below.

• EarthCam( Android / iOS ) – this is the official application of the portal I told you about in a dedicated chapter, which allows you to watch live streaming images from webcams from all over the world.
• Earth Online( Android ) – is an app for Android devices, through which you can watch videos from public webcams around the world. One of its strengths is the ease of use, given by its very “clean” interface.
• webcam Live( iOS ) – is another interesting application that allows you to watch live from public webcams around the world, many of which broadcast high-resolution video.
• Landwebcams( iOS ) – this is a free application that allows you to immerse yourself in nature thanks to public webcams located near mountains, hills, lakes, oceans and other breathtaking places.
