How to listen to the answering machine
You have received a message from your new telephone operator telling you that someone has tried to contact you and, not finding you, left a message on your answering machine. So far so good, but there is a problem: you have absolutely no idea how to listen to him. This is how things are, right? Then don’t worry, I can help you sort this out.
In the next paragraphs, in fact, I will show you how to listen to the answering machine of the main operators, including TIM, Vodafone, WINDTRE, Fastweb and Iliad. These are simple operations, which can be performed both from your smartphone and from the home phone for the landline, in case the message was left right there.
How do you say? Can’t wait to find out who contacted you? Then you just have to get comfortable, read the next lines carefully and put into practice the suggestions you find in them. Just a small recommendation before starting: I will show you some key combinations to press, useful for accessing the messages on the answering machine, however these may change over time, so, to avoid errors, be sure to listen carefully to the instructions of the voice guide of your secretarial service. How to listen to the TIM answering machine
Is your operator TIM and you don’t know how to proceed to listen to the messages on the answering machine? Let’s start with a small premise: as regards the mobile line, the TIM secretariat is a service that can be activated and deactivated free of charge. Listening to messages, however, is subject to a fee and the price depends on the subscription plan.
With regard to the fixed-line, on the other hand, TIM provides the Memotel subscription service which can be activated by calling Customer Service 187. On mobile
If you want to listen to the messages on the answering machine of your TIM mobile line, all you have to do is unlock your smartphone, tap on the handset icon to access the dialer (the app for making calls) and then press the icon of the numeric keypad.
Once this is done, all you have to do is call 41919 and follow the instructions of the voice guide. At the moment of writing, to listen to the voice messages all you have to do is press the 0 and keys 1 . Once done, the voice guide will allow you to access the section of the answering machine where the saved messages are present.
If, on the other hand, you do not have your smartphone, you can listen to the answering machine messages of your mobile line also through a landline telephone. All you have to do is type in the number 36 from your mobile number. Then follow the instructions of the voice guide.
On landline
Do you want to listen to the voicemail messages on your landline? Then all you have to do is type the code on the phone keypad*#64# to access the menu in which they are registered. Simple, right?
If you do not have your landline phone but a smartphone or other landline number, you can type in your landline number, wait to hear the welcome message from the answering machine, type the # symbol during the announcement and finally dial the security PIN (i.e. the number provided when activating the service, usually 1234, or the one you chose).
How to listen to the Vodafone answering machine
The Vodafone answering machine for mobile line is activated free of charge when the subscription is activated, therefore it is an included service. Listening to messages, on the other hand, is subject to a fee and depends on the subscription plan (in Italy, usually, it is around € 1.50 only in case of use).
As for the fixed-line, however, it is a free service both for activation and for listening to messages received. So let’s see how to listen to the Vodafone answering machine.
On mobile
The first thing you need to do is grab your smartphone, unlock it and tap the phone icon to open the dialer. Then, press the numeric keypad icon and enter the number 42020, then, start the call by pressing the Send key (the handset you normally use to make calls). The voice guide will promptly notify you of the presence of incoming voice messages allowing you to listen to them.
On landline
To listen to your messages on the answering machine of your Vodafone fixed line, all you have to do is dial the number 41010. After that, the voice guide will lead you to listen to the recorded messages.
When I type, the voicemail option keys are 0 to receive an SMS with the sender’s number, 1 to listen to the message again, 2 to listen to the previous message, 4 to retrieve a deleted message, 5 to delete the message and 6 to listen to the next message.
How to listen to the WIND answering machine
Is your telephone operator WINDTRE and you don’t know how to listen to the messages on the answering machine? Don’t worry, these are very simple operations. The WINDTRE secretariat is activated free of charge upon activation of the mobile number and listening to messages is free for all customers active from 18/11/2019. For the others, however, the price varies according to the telephone rate.
The WINDTRE fixed line has a subscription telephone answering service (at a price of € 0.99 including VAT) that can be activated at any time but not provided when the line is activated. Listening to messages, in this case, is included in the monthly price. Read more here.
On mobile
To listen to the messages left on the answering machine of your WINDTRE number, all you have to do is unlock your smartphone, tap on the handset icon and then press the numeric keypad icon.
Once this is done, enter the number 4200 and press the Enter key to start the call. In this way the guide voice will immediately inform you of the presence of received messages, allowing you to listen to them.
On landline
Do you want to hear a message left on your landline? So, in this case, you just have to type 4200 number on your phone to access the voicemail menu and listen to incoming messages.
To listen to a landline message via a smartphone or other number, you can enter your home number followed by the # symbol, your PIN code and finally the # symbol.
How to listen to the Fastweb answering machine
Do you use Fastweb as a telephone or landline operator and do not know how to listen to messages on the answering machine? Nothing complex, in the next paragraphs you will find all the steps to succeed in your intent.
On mobile
Listening to the Fastweb answering machine is simple: open the dialer by tapping the handset icon, press the numeric keypad icon and type the number 4141. Now you just have to start the phone call by pressing the Enter key and follow the voice guide.
If this is the first time you use the service you will have to enter the PIN 1234 (which it is advisable to change immediately) and, once done, you will be able to listen to the messages received.
On landline
Listening to messages on the Fastweb landline is even easier. By typing the same number seen for the mobile line, that is 4141 , you can access the answering machine. The number, therefore, is the same and, depending on the device from which you are calling, allows you to listen to messages from the mobile or fixed-line.
How to listen to the Iliad answering machine
Do you want to listen to the messages on the Iliad operator’s answering machine? Then unlock your smartphone, tap on the icons of the handset and the numeric keypad, then type the number 401 and press the Enter key to start the phone call.
Once this is done, follow the instructions of the voice guide and enter your security PIN (if you do not remember it you can access your personal area on the Iliad official website and check it). Now, you can listen to the messages on the answering machine.
If you have an iPhone, however, you have the option of using the integrated Answering machine function. All you have to do is tap on the handset icon, press the Voice Mail item (bottom right) and choose the message you want to hear from those present by pressing on it.
